    Problems

    Guys, im really sorry i havent been active on the server or site, iv been having some frustrating problems with my COD and havnt figured out what it is...

    I startup my COD4 - no problems, even after i have assigned it high priority on task manager.

    It allows me to play sometimes 10/15 mins sometimes less than 2 mins, then it suddenly freezes, well it stutters like mad and the the sound is all disfigured, iv never seen anything like it! the only way i can get out of the game is by turning off my comp.

    Iv tried loads of stuff and there is only 2 things to try, im uninstalling and reinstalling now to see if that works, if not then it must be my laptop overheating - it does get very hot!

    If all else fails i can play on my laggy desktop (you all remember my lag problems right?) but i need to update my COD first, does anyone know if to upgrade from 1.2 to 1.7 i need to download each individual upgrade or if i can download 1.7 straight away?

    Hey,

    not sure about the laptop problem but you can download patch 1.6 and then update to 1.7.

    yep it's overheating agent. i had this problem months ago. try to keep the fans on a high position so they can suction enough air. i did it with rubbers, so the fan is on a higher position. i dunno where your fans on the laptop are, but there are several "laptop air cooler" to buy. about 15-50 € everything is possible, depends on your wallet ^^.

    and the patches need to be installed like qup said.

    Yeah try a laptop cooling pad, can probably pick one up for 10-30$ in any tech store.

    As for patches you'll need to install these two:

    Generally speaking a laptop cooling pad is a fan or two with side exhausts that clips onto the bottom or provides a good stand for your laptop

    just upgrade your desktop. laptops are made for work not games in general so that is why it happens same happened with my laptop only my MoBo / CPU went booom

    yeah id say its overheating too

    to get 250 fps on a nice looking config i need to overclock my 4870 quite a bit and when i do that my card crashes maybe once twice a game but ATI Catalyst has VPU recovery now so theres no real problem could you use ati catalyst or nvidias inequivalent to under clock it a bit

    How do i check my laptop temp? Is there a file i can monitor it from?

    You can try Real Temp - CPU temperature monitoring or SpeedFan - Access temperature sensor in your computer
