Old Threads

Heya guys,
i noticed a lot of old posts aren't closed.
Maybe it's a good thing deleting the old threads. Important threads can maybe marked as sticky or summed up.

It's becoming more clearly and easier to use the search-engine :x

Definatly not. Old threads often contain information that otherwise would be posted over and over again.

They are also important for the growth of the forum, getting indexed and ranked well by the big G is pretty important for the site, as well as back links from other sites.

ah okay, dunno the post-counter will be decimated by deleting Threads. thought about it because i opened a thread and wasn't sure about if sth similar were still existing under another title, so i needed to watch 6 or 7 sites full of threads.

Old Threads are something you have to be careful around. You can get scolded for pointlessly opening an old thread and posting something that has no relevance at all. But if you are posting in an old thread with 'new' or relevent (by your standards) information and views then that is ok. Just be careful to check the date on the last post before posting.

Even if the thread counter didn't go down, the page still isnt there. We currently have about 12,000 pages indexed by Google, which draws traffic here, increases the 'value' of the site on the internet.

If there is a really old topic and you have a similar post, make a new thread. But use the search function first.

i mean, u just have to look if theres something similar and if not, make a new thread
but if theres a closed thread u see its not up-to-date anymore

Nah, the counter won't go down if a thread is closed. The thread is still existing and the posts too.
But closing old threads is just a good idea for those, which definitely can be closed!

But what is the point in closing it, if there is no need, just extra work for us.

Users who dig, will be warned, they stop, or get their postcount reset.
