As you said yourself:

verything went fine, i think it happened after i downloaded a map or somthing,

tried removing the files? + was it an official CODjumper server?
Then i suggest you scan their forums for similar problems.

You can leave custom classes as they are, they have no business with the problems u experience.
I think, one of your files is corrupt and need to be downloaded again from trusted source.
As for the DirectX error, I can't really understand why it does that, I also have DirectX crashes but only once in a while.
Is it permanent for you?

u can reinstall COD4 without losing classes and level i was told

I think you should make a copy of C:/program files/activision/Call of duty 4 - Modern Warfare/players
After the reinstall just copy it back and overwrite.
Now this will only work for servers without special mods.
If you want to save mods too go back in COD4 map and open the map mods, backup the mods u like to keep.
Same for maps etc...

ima try it although i dont think you can save the profiles even if u copy them
+i bought it through steam so ima need to download 6GB now to install it again =]

i think i did it once.. and it worked for me

saving the profiles folder will save your game progress and levels. Like Java said, overwrite the folder that is created when you install. As long as you have the same CD key, your profile will be there

blunksie is right java 2 i copy my profile to prevent this now all i need to do is stop loosing the memory sticks
