Thread: Problems with rcon!

hi, i have problems with rcon, i can login, but rcon dont read any command :[

no, no bad password. i was login, i kick some martdoms, and i play again, and dunno why, rcon stop working :[

blunks said some guy has hacked into it and turned it off =O
even he cant access it... which must mean... server termination!

Is the script running while in game? Or can the rcon port be changed to prevent it?

I'm pretty sure its a sort of multi hack thing he's got going.

Rcon port, i'll talk with the hosts, but he found this one...might find the next. And it might not be changeable...idk..

I think to hack the rcon password you either bruteforce the rconpw or bruteforce the serverpw...when both passwords are long and safe enough, I think we should be save.

Ok, whats happening is he's flooding the rcon port with data like "/rcon login ahafadf" about 2 times a second, the password is wrong, thats why this works. Now, when the rcon has info coming at it so fast, it has to be able to Read this, carry out the opperation, send feedback then enter it into a txt doc, so, whilst the server is doing this, it can't do somthing else, like get the player list or get send the kick command, because its busy.

Currently we can't get rid of the guy, and our only option is to change our IP, but there is still a likely chance he'll find us again. He's chaning his ip's, non have records with pbban.

Any ideas?

i heard that you can ban him by typing his guid and name into your ban.txt located in the main cod4 folder.

but we cant get guid?

just make it pb for a while???
