Hey,
As some of you may know ImageGaming is dropping its current server (217.112.93.161:4096) and replacing it with a Stats server, which is also streaming PunkBuster (81.19.209.211:28960)
So, we all know there is alot of people out there who are legit, but can't play in PunkBuster servers due to some problems. Most forums seem to ignore pleeds for help, and we all know, EvenBalances' support, isn't great. Our list of fixes:
1.
P: Restriction for unknown API #131133, #131136, etc...
A: Disabling programs such as screen overlays, performance monitoring/tweaking tools, community chat add-ons, etc...
2.
P: Kicked for INIT FAILURE.
A: Usually, this message means your PB is not working properly. Download and Run PBSETUP, remember to "Add Game" before Checking for updates.
3.
P: Kicked/Banned for cvar violations.
A: A cvar is a game setting. Cvars can be used to customize the game, they are like: "cg_shadows 0", so if you did anything like "cg_shadows 1" reset them all to 0
4.
P: "Blocked O/S Privileges"
A:Temporarily disable other security type programs you have running such as anti-virus, process guard, SDProtector, etc
5.
P: "Insufficient O/S Privileges"
A: Download this program and run it from anywhere.
Click the "Find VX2.betterinternet info" button to make sure that you don't have this adware. If there are no files listed, go on to the last step. If you find the adware files, (it is usually 3 random named dll files) Select all the files found.
Press 'Delete These Files'. The program will delete all files but one that will be deleted on reboot. Allow program to reboot. Once Restarted:
Clicking on "find vx2.BetterInternet info" again should show all fields blank.
- Press 'Guardian.reg'.
- Press 'User Agent'.
- Press 'Restore Policy'.
If you have no adware files, just click on the "Restore Policy" Button
6.
P: Error in pbcl.dll or a General Protection Fault.
A: This issue can be from a program that conflicts with PB. There are a few known program that cause this:
Closing those programs, or any like them that contain user or kernel level debuggers should stop the problem.

How come I never get a reply to emails I send to Even Balance? (Their excuse for not replying).
Because of the spam and junk email problem that has proliferated over the Internet, more and more mail systems try to automatically filter out email based on where each email originates. Unfortunately, some of these filtering schemes are imperfect. Our support staff makes every effort to answer every single email (we get hundreds per day), usually the same day an email is received. If you have sent us an email and you do not receive a reply within 48 hours, that is almost certainly because your incoming mail server is not reachable from our outgoing mail server. Often this is a DNS problem that prevents our mail server from "finding" other mail servers. However, we have also learned that some "blacklist" services have blacklisted the whole subnet which contains our mail server's IP Address. Not because of anything we have done (we have never sent out spam and we do not allow our mail server to act as an open relay). If you do not get a reply from us, we recommend that you use our new web based support system. Follow this link to create a new trouble ticket here.
NOTE: Most of this info was quoted from the Even Balance cod4 FAQ
7. I have windows 7 RC1 and PunkBuster doesn't work I get Restriction: Unknown windows API Function [131131]. What can I do?
This fix works for the windows 7 RC1 issue for me, I had no PB issues with the previous Windows 7 Beta release. It took me a while to work it out but it was largely due to me not updating the files in the right places
1. Copy http://www.evenbalance.com/downloads/cod4/wc002180.htm from PB site to C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\call of duty 4\PB\htm or wherever you happen to have installed it
2. Go to C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\call of duty 4\PB folder and run "pbsetup" and select COD4 game and do any updates.
3. Run "services.msc" and find the PnkBstrA service and select the "Allow service to interact with desktop service" option
Thanks to Robopope for this tip!
or
* Enable Vista compatibility for PnkBstrA/B.exe in c:\windows\syswow64 and c:\users\your_username\appdata\local\punkbuster.
* Running above files with administrator rights.
* Enable Vista compabitility for C:\Program Files (x86)\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\iw3mp.exe
* Run iw3mp.exe (cod4 mp) without administrator rights
Thanks to RomanianGuy for this tip!
I'll be adding more problems, as I find them around the web, if you have a pb problem, post it here, and we'll try help you out![]()
