Thread: own Lan dedi server

I have a huge LAN next weekend (100-1000 people)
that poses a bit of a problem with my own modded server as the download speed of the mod is super slow and it is kinda big (30+MB)how can I make the download speed faster(1GB hubs and all so speed will be able to go quite high)
how can I make them download it from a different HDD on my Pc (the server)

If you can help that will be much appreciated

I f that is not possible I will change server name to get mod at seat# but that is hassle

Put the mod in a zip on internet so people can download it separately (probably faster than thru CoD4)?

Although LAN transfers should still be ZILLIONS faster than internet, isn't there some kind of way to share files between windows computers? If it were mac, I could help you... actually, if even only ONE person had a mac I could still help you

But I guess you should just setup some kind of shared folder everyone can access to thru LAN, download, put it in COD4 and tataah finished.

OR, have a few USB sticks to throw around with the files on it :p

that is like a orgy m8 you just spread viruses by putting sticks into holes ^^

my Idea was like get may lan server running like an online one

umm, set up a network share?.. Guest access, only readable, non writable = no virus, just download.

Windows (Right Click > Sharing > Advanced - set up..)

Or upload it to a filehost, let the players download it the day before or something.
