I tried it one time,cause it's free to play but it's just not my type of gaming..

Yeah i will remember that. I started playing it a week ago so i'm not pro player atm :p but noticed that when it's free to play they made some boosts to donoring ones and that sux if i may say so. :S
Nope you don't get any boosts from paying. Riot Points (the ingame currency) can only be used to buy Skins (only affect how the champion looks ingame) or to unlock champions, which you can do any way via IP, it just takes longer but is 100% free. I've bought a few skins for my favorite champions, spent like 8$.
edit:
actually you can buy and XP boost to level up faster or an IP boost to get IP faster but levels don't really matter that much as you're mostly matched with people at your level and if you level up faster than everyone else then it just means you'll be vs people who have played more than you and are probably better. The IP boost is very small and doesn't last that long so it doesn't make you stronger ingame if you buy it.

i see i just bought both influence points and xp boost just to lvl faster
