Thread: Big Explosion near my city!

Jesus Christ!

This night I heard a quiet "boom". It turned out to be an explosion of a tanker laded with petrol. It is located near our refinery, which is about 5km (3,1 miles) apart from us. You still could see the flames though :O Not only the ship itself but also the leaking oil burned. It was a really large scale operation but it's already under control (after ~5h of extinguishing)

Luckily, no one was seriously injured.

Omg cab. It's really scary when you hear such huge explpsions while you're sleeping. Years ago a truck crashed into neighbours house and it was a huge noise. So i can understand how scary you felt, eh? Btw, i'm living in an area with plaster stone and lime stine which is washed away in the underground by rained water. It causes huge caves under the surface and sometimes they end in really huge holes. The last one was more than 1 year ago, 2km away from my home. It was a hole 12m deep and 20m diameter. Nope, not yet. The fire started only 12h ago. Will keep you updated.

update:
The operation lasted from ~23:00 till 13:00. Altogether there were 6 fire brigades of our city with all available trucks, 5 fire trucks and a boat from a neighbouring city, ABC units from another neighbouring village and the works fire service of the refinery on duty.

I feel you mate (seems we have all had our bad ordeals) mine happened; I woke up quick (I sleep very light with a weapon as I live in SA and do not feel that safe but it is a great country [talk about irony XD]) as I heard a blast coming from the back of the house. KFC exploded 2-3 km from my house LOL
