    Mapping, Getting it Ingame

    Make sure you've read the other tutorials.

    Mapping, Radient 01 > Mapping, Radient 01


    Ok, Today we're going to get our map ingame, and also fix somthing I forgot to do in the last one!


    In the last one, I forgot somthing pretty important...Light, we had no light, it would have been pitch black, but no worries, we can do that now.

    Open up radient and open up the map you saved last time (File > Open)

    Now, somewhere in your room, on the 2d grid right click and select light:



    Make sure its in the middle (Height) whilst its selected use the grid on the left to move it up and down.



    Press the space bar to duplicate it and move it to the other side, you might want to do this afew times, depending on how big your room is.




    Thats That, Save the map. and Open up the Compile Tools, from the shortcuts we made:



    This is what you should get:



    Move to the Level Compiling tab:



    In the list, select mp_yourmap (in mine mp_testroom)

    Now, don't worry about anything else on the screen, just make sure, have your map selected.

    And press Compile BSP. It might do this quick or slow.. depending on how fast your pc is, but this is a small map so it'll take just afew seconds.

    This CMD window will pop up, and also your game will start.



    When your game gets to the menu, click the little cross to exit it. Now on the cmd you'll see somthing like "Press any key to Continue" do it, and the cmd goes.

    Thats step one over

    Next we Compile The Reflections, this compiles all the light and reflections, same as above, it might take a long time, depending on your pc.

    This cmd window pops up, as well as your game.



    It might have text, it might not.. But this time leave everything, go grab a drink, it'll exit itself when its done, DO NOT EXIT IT YOURSELF!!!

    Now, we'll Build the Fast File, thats the mp_yourmap.ff that you'll give to people/upload.

    So press Build Fast File and this'll come up:



    Say yes. Nothing might happen for awhile, so be patient, but another cmd will pop up:



    Again, Press any key to continue...

    Now, the map is playable, but you might want to update the zone file (Adds any textures/ bodies, etc...) so Press Update Zone File and copy everything thats in the left box into the one on the right.



    Press Save and Ok, then Re-Build your Fast File << IMPORTANT!

    Now, its time to Run the Map > Wahhoo!

    Make sure your Boxes are ticked like this:



    And his Run Selected Map.





    The Error Messages on the side are fine, and the Mulicoloured Gun is, For now...

    I'll go onto Errors in another tutorial. But, if you spawn as an Op For and you have some messed up gun thing infront of you, and you cant see anything, you'll want to update zone files and build fast file again.
    That'll clear it up.

    So, Have fun!!!!

    Now, You've made that...experiment alittle...you don't have to build a box!

    Also, remember to save alot...and Press Esc to deselect often, or you'll end up moving things around, and messing up.

    I'll get a video done later...
