Hey, Please read the previous tutorial before continuing: Clicky
Right, in this tutorial, we're going to make a demo room in Radient.
First, open radient via the shortcut we made last time:
Once open it should look like this:
Now, we need to make the basics of the room, so, left click, hold and drag a square. Like this:
Now, we need to get a view of it from the side, so we can make the height of the room. Press Ctrl+Tab and you'll get a screen like this:
(Press Ctrl+Tab again, afew times, to get back to Top view)
Now, grab the inside of the brush and drag it up, to around 192. Just bellow the bottom of the brush, where it says x:### Click, and drag down until you reach the blue (0) line and it should look like:
Now, we should make the brush into Caulk (A texture that is invisable ingame, so it doesnt use much resourses. So go to Textures > Usage and select "tools".
Now, in the 3d box in the top right, move around (Right Click and Drag), untill you find the box you just made. (Press "a" to look up and press "z" too look back down, Ctrl to move up and down, or strave left or right)
And make sure your box is still selected (Lft Shift + Left Mouse Click it, if it isnt) and in the box, in the bottom right, press Caulk once. And it should look like:
Click the Hollow tool and we'll make it so we can move all the sides seperatly and get inside the box.
Press Esc to desect and Shift + Click on the sites and move them around, so nothing is overlapping use the side view as well (Ctrl + Tab).
Move yourself into the room, in the 3d panel, by right clicking and dragging forwards / sidways, etc...
Once in there, select the inner sides, Ctrl + Shift + Left Click (This selects the sides on the inside, not on the outside, we'd be wasting resourses by applying them to the outside, where nobody will see. (Select all of them exept the roof and the floor.
Now, we'll change the textures back to "All" (Textures > Usage > All).
We need to find a nice texture for the walls of the room, so, for the example we'll have some concrete block walls. So go to Textures > Surface Type > Concrete.
In the bottom left box scroll till you find a nice texture then click on it.
So the same for the roof and the floor, Remember Ctrl + Shift + Left Click.
Make the floor and the roof differnet aswell.
Nearly there now, just need to make it 'Playable'
Right click in the middle of your room; mp > global_intermission. This is the screen you see when you enter a map, its generaly in the corner and views the hole map from above...so on the left hand panel, move it up, near the roof.
We need to add some other things in aswell, these need to be on the floor (Spawn Points)
right click > mp > tdm > spawn - When you die thats where you respawn
right click > mp > tdm > spawn > allies_start - Where the Marines/SAS start in the beggining.
right click > mp > tdm > spawn > axis_start - Where the opfor/spetznav start in the beggining.
Remember to click esc after adding each one.
Move them to all differnet parts of the map
Now, select the global_intermission and press N and this pops up:
in the bottom left of the box, click 135/45/315/225 depending on where you put the intermission, you'll see an arrow added when you click one, this says where the camera points in the beggining.
In the end this is how it should look:
REMEMBER TO SAVE, NOW
HORRAY, YOU'VE MADE YOUR FIRST COD4 MAP!!!! GRATS! THE HARD BIT IS OVER!!!
Next tutorial we'll get it ingame!
