I'd say DO record using CoD 4, so you can record using another program without needing to be online and without it affecting your game (if it makes CoD lag for example)

also, this would avoid you recording a 20m video taking 5GB (non-compressed) if you only need the last 5 minutes of it...

You can use the /record bind, then use /avidemo over the demo and get the video with virtualdub and edit the video in sony vegas or whatever video editing software you use

The simple way to do it, which I'd say the best is using /record then watching the demo, playing with angles, 3rd/1st person. And Using fraps to record the parts you want. Then using a video editing tool mess with things.

Other way, would be using /record and /avidemo which will generate a ton of images, of every frame.

Is there no other format that works avi is huge mp4 maybe?

Demo files a very easy to use, open, and the only way to get 3rd person views, 360 camera rotations, different angles. Any other way, you will have to record everything you do in-game, which can be very wasteful, if you die early on in a sd game, or are on a death streak.

There is not much point making a movie or whatever, if you are not willing to put the time in to learn how to use the tools and the ways to do things.

mp4's can be made very small, like Murf said, using x264. FFMPEG is what I use on this server to compress the InternetGameArchive trailers down from about 60mb mov files, to 10mb mp4 files, whilst keeping the quality. I'm sure there is a windows program that will do similar.

I just wish that there were a rewind command as 90 % of my frags happen at the end of a game. so as it is at the end I have to go through 27 meg file (ingame rec.) I mean that is a very long time to wait for the GOOD frag and then sometimes I get drowsy and forget to record the frag after waiting 20 min then I have to start over.

the reason I say it takes long: I open cod4player say open demo OK. now my pc goes into cod and there it takes time First map that load... Shipment Second map block Third map the one I recorded in I do not know why it does that but it does LOL

so thx for replies guys, but i wanna know how to make a movie ingame the singleplayer. Google doesn't answer how to open console in SP. Tried it with binds too, but nothing happened

edit: lawl, i should call myself record fool xD forgot to activate the console in SP everything right guys xD
