    PSU busted...

my psu randomly busted with a kind of electrical fire kinda smell i was away so the smell filt the entire room with light smoke too still thou no visible fire all the fans still ran but the thing wouldn't run but im not sure what broke still...

opened the psu and found a dark burnt looking wire where to the step down transformer is the wire that wraps the core there was burnt where normally it is a shiny transparent coated copper wire

no gaming till i buy a new psu which could be a while as i just spent money on clothes and shit so im near broke and a local shops cheapest was near £50 for a 700W(685w) power supply.

so playing cod4 till then :L on xbox360 and im shite also more time to do coarsework

no never go cheep on PSU's!!

cheep ones blow all the time go for trusted names

you should be able to get a 750W(max 900W) coolermaster GX750 for less than R1050 IDK what the rand pound exchange rate is ATM but google says that you could get it for about $100

rather save longer and buy better than buy cheep and buy more...

depending on what your power needs are you could get a GX650 with max output of 780W

look into corsair as well. they make an excellent psu. most important thing is to read reviews though.

here is one review from me I have never had any problems with CM PSU's they are real "secure"
corsair is good too but I think the price vs what you get is = overpriced

i have a computer sales place intown they build there own computers for major buisnesses like kitting out schools ect. so they sell a 685w PSU for £45 quid might check it out but if i go for a dear one prob wont get it for weeks to months but i might wait 2 months till exams are over anyways

so ive got exams commin up and dont want to waste time so really could not have happened at a better time. but as soon as i fix it i know where is my first stop im workin over easter i hope so you never know.
