    iPod Touch 3G electricity problems

    Hey,

Might be a little weird question, but heck on a side note, I don't know whether this could be also happening to the iPhone 3G or even 4G (and iPod Touch 4G obv)

    Well here's the "problem"

When I plug my iPod in to charge, albeit my laptop or just an outlet in the wall, when I take my iPod in my hand with the metal side in my hands, I can feel I very distinct pulse, like a small electricity charge running over it. I also brought it close to my cheek, and i felt a small zap. nothing very impressive, but it did pinch.

This also happens when it's charging in a dock connector, who in turn is connected to my HiFi system. But I don't think that's any relevant, as I mentionned that it happens if I charge, no matter what it's connected to.

As far as I remember, this did NOT happen when I bought the iPod (April 2010), and I'm pretty sure this problem only started maximum two months ago.

Anyone know what it could be? Anyone else with an iPod/iPhone having this problem? Should I bring it in?

(Should I bring it in (here in Belgium) knowing I bought it in the U.S.A.? )
I'm going to check the warranty, not sure if it's over or not

it's not really a shock, more like a constant tingling on my hand when I hold it. it's only when I put it closer to my (unshaven btw ) cheek that it "zapped" me a tiny little bit. also USB is 5V anyway, so not going to die from it...

Guess I'll ask the question to an apple person before actually bringing it in. but if anyone else has an idea what it is...

also no idea if it's related at all, but I have problems with the Wi-Fi signal too, it looks as if it's really slowed down, browsing and mail works fine, but updating apps or new apps (downloading) is UUUUUUBER slow, and I can't connect to ANY of the university networks, for no apparent reason. Signal is strong, but it just won't connect. or it drops connection after 5 seconds.

Could have a lose wire in or something, I was you, run it down to an apple store, they should give you some advice even if you warranty is invalid or over.

I have never experienced that or anything similar with either of my iPods, iPod Touch, iPhone 3g or 4

Or, ofc, wait til you pick it up with wet hands/ it gets worse, you get a real shock, then sue Apple = more money.. your choice.

    hmmm it's weird

I've had the problem with multiple different USB cables, EXCEPT when plugged in to the USB cable in my dad's car...

Anyway, as soon as I can I'll go to some Apple store

Voltage doesn't kill you, it's the current, and if it's in the wall, it could surge

Anyway, it's not uncommon for devices to do stuff like that. Could be loads of reasons whats causing it, such as electromagnetism etc.

Funnily enough, my laptop does something similar on the touch pad left/right click buttons, and they're plastic....

Warranty shouldn't be the problem here as he bought the Ipod this year. I would try to take it to a apple shop and see what they do about it. But they will probably send you to the store in the USA. Legally they have nothing to do with you on this case. It's between you and that shop.

I've had the problem in at least 2 different situations

    1. My iPod is connected to my laptop, laptop is NOT connected to electricity
    2. my iPod is connected with an A/V cable to my HiFi, and also charging at the same time (connected to an outlet)

the A/V cable is different from the cable I use to connect to my iPod

Hmmm guess I'll "forget" to mention where I bought it, until they ask

Still, refusing to help me would be ridiculous, would be as stupid as saying "sorry, you bought it in Antwerp, we're in Brussels". What do they do if some U.S. business man would enter and say "hi my iPhone 4G is acting weird, I'm stuck in Belgium for 3 months, could you help me?"

    UPDATE
I just discovered the problem DOES NOT happen when connected with my dad's iPhone 4G cable... both to a power outlet and my laptop.
