LOL it is a seal and it is in the desert ! but if you see the ship that ship is about 500 meters from the sea

the seals even go 1000m into the desert(only the females) because the jackals steal the seal pups and the mother then dies there of either sorrow, killed by a pack of jackal or plane hunger and thirst. quite shows love for children even in animals.

you can then see how far the seal is from the sea as the seal is about 15m from the ship

Yes the story the guide told us was damn funny about the captain getting drunk and letting a slave man the ship. the slave did not know what he was doing and sailing in the heavy fog and ramping XD

the truth is that the Ice at the poles was not that much back then and as more and more ice formed the costal line moved back(maybe someone with more geographical background can explain better)

and there are a few deserts that is next to the sea in america there are I think 2

The namib desert is the oldest desert in the world tho
