competition will run from today until the 9th of july 9/07/2011 that gives one month
spawn area should not be larger than 450x450
structures should be built for only this competition.
should be posted your thread on our forums competitions section.
structures should not exceed the clouds nor touch them.
anyone with stolen work in their submission will be disqualified.

LoL how much does the game cost? the price will determine if I will be able to participate
I got a game from a friend but need to buy a key

the game is around 12-14 euro while its in beta

Following up from what murf said in regards to the price:

When Minecraft is finished, it will sell for €20.00.
If you pre-purchase now during beta, you pay just €14.95!

So get a move on and try it! Get the client and you can play singleplayer without paying for the game, I believe. This should let you get a feel for it so you can decide on whether it's worth it.

I played on a server that had really cool cities. I suggest not building something "awesome" at spawn, and just making a simple building that doesn't look dumb. From the spawn area the community can create a path to the location that has been chosen for the first city. You can later expand this to include a subway

as he said the spawn is to be a path to 4 directions N E S W

north
east
south
west

each 4 directions must be addressed. each direction may not be called NESW ingame bbut may be renamed to an ingame city, and this will be where your artistic skills will start. mixing english and other languages to create the perfect city names is the naming game. creating the path to this city will be the where you win this competition.

and a centerpiece and ACTUAL spawn area - an actual 15x15 spot that will act as the spawn area. and a monument ccenterpiece that should provide something to awe at upon first spawn.

very nicely done murf, ca't wit for the server to be up unfortunatly I'm a complete minecraft noob >< but I'll take a shot at something.
